A mother and her two young children are dead after jumping over Niagara Falls. The New York State Police said they received a 911 call around 9 p.m. on Tuesday (October 29) night that the mother was seen climbing over the guard rail on Luna Island with her kids and jumping over the nearly 200-foot drop.
The police identified the victims as Niagara Falls resident Chaianti Means,33, and her two children, nine-year-old Roman Rossman and 5-month-old Mecca Means.
A search and rescue mission was launched for Means and her two children. Unfortunately, the police said that the "efforts were conducted with negative results."
An investigation determined that the "incident was intentional in nature." The police noted that the "circumstances remain under investigation."
New York State Trooper James O'Callaghan told WKBW that Means' family is cooperating with the investigation.
Officials said that the New York State Park Police Unmanned Aircraft Systems, NYSPP Marine Patrol, NYSP Aviation, Underwater Recovery Unit, Niagara Falls Police Department, and Niagara Charter Schools are all assisting in the investigation.
