Central PA/ From CBS 21 Meteorologist Ed Russo
A winter storm will impact the region today. Expect light rain/snow showers to develop early. Accumulation looks minimal as temperatures will be above freezing. The rain/snow shower activity will become all snow and turn heavier through this afternoon and evening with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. The snow will continue into the night with another 2 to 4 inches possible, especially east of the Susquehanna River.
Much of the region will see 4 to 8 inches of snow with less to the west and more to the east. Roads will really go downhill Sunday evening and sloppy conditions are expected through the Monday morning commute. Because of the expected winter weather, Sunday and Monday are both Weather WARN days.
Sunday Night: Periods of snow, accumulating 2 to 4 inches: Low 28
Monday: Snow early, then breezy with decreasing clouds, an additional inch possible: High 36
Monday Night: Partly cloudy and cold: Low 20
Tuesday: Chilly with partly cloudy skies: High 34
Lehigh Valley
The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed the Lehigh Valley under a winter storm warning through 6 p.m. Monday (February 23), with projected snow totals climbing throughout the day. Lehigh, Northampton, and Berks counties can expect between 6-11 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph.
Approximately 6 to 11 inches by Monday morning, depending on exact banding and storm intensity. This aligns with the ongoing Winter Storm Warning, which highlights significant snowfall potential.
