Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags on commonwealth grounds to be flown at half-staff to honor Central Berks Regional Police Officer Kristen Yeager, who died in the line of duty. Officer Yeager's death has deeply affected the community, and the governor expressed his condolences, stating, "Lori and I are praying for the family of Central Berks Regional Police Officer Kristen Yeager, who died in the line of duty last night. The women and men who wear the uniform put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and we owe them our deepest gratitude."

The order to lower the flags is a mark of respect for Officer Yeager's service and sacrifice. Governor Shapiro's directive applies to all commonwealth grounds and reflects a statewide acknowledgment of the bravery and dedication of law enforcement officers.

Officer Yeager's passing is part of a broader national observance. As part of National Police Week, flags across the country are flown at half-staff to honor law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This annual observance, established by Congress in 1962, is marked by memorial events and tributes nationwide, as noted by the National Day Calendar.

The community continues to mourn Officer Yeager, and the governor encourages Pennsylvanians to join in this tribute by lowering flags at their homes and businesses.
